Fiona is passionate about making a change in music education. She believes that all students should have the opportunity to express themselves through music.
Fiona has been teaching music for more than 30 years. She began her career teaching private lessons in flute, trumpet, and classroom music. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Music) she then completed a Grad. Dip. in Music Education. Fiona has worked part time in several Victorian Primary Schools in her region.
Fiona has been a mentor with Music in Me since the commencement of the program in Victoria. She is now a Coordinator and enjoying sharing her expertise and building the confidence and capabilities of new participants. She also loves to stay in touch with her previous mentees to hear about successes and highlights.
Fiona has completed Levels 1-3 in Orff pedagogy and is a member of the Orff Association, Victoria.
In her own primary school years, Fiona was fortunate to have experienced a dynamic music program full of opportunities and positive experiences. She decided that this was something she wanted to offer other young people – to experience the joy of collaborating in music.
