Elective session
Choir-aerobics
Imagine this: your concert is two weeks away and your school choir has three songs to prepare. Some of the notes are tricky. Lunchtime rehearsals on a Friday are distracted by hula hoops rolling through the door from next-door; they’re coming from the co-curricular circus club (which you’re often reminded is why some of the kids can’t make it to your rehearsal). What to do??
Enter… Choir-aerobics! Getting your choir moving has never been so achievable! Learn notes, lock in solid part-singing and overcome student fatigue all while staying in your own seating plan!
In this session, Lachlan Massey is joined by 45 enthusiastic Sydney Children’s Choir choristers to show you some strategies for physicalising music learning. They’ll help you make good use of limited rehearsal time while also positively impacting students’ vocal technique and the overall sound of your school’s singing ensembles. Good times? All the time.
