Elective session

Engaging Ngarra Burria in the classroom

In this session you’ll be introduced to the Ngarra-Burria First Peoples Composers program and meet two of its composers, Adam Manning and Nicole Smede.

Both composers will present on their music and process, offering practical information and engaging activities that you can use in your primary classroom.

The Australian Music Centre has been a major collaborator and contributor to the ground-breaking and award winning Ngarra-Burria First Peoples Composers program. This program has provided new opportunities for First Nations composers to both develop their skills and create new and significant art music compositions. Since the program’s inception in 2016 there has been a wealth of repertoire created, and the majority of these works are now on streaming platforms.
