Eva Spata (NSW – SCS)

Eva Spata is a passionate advocate for the Creative & Performing Arts within schools and beyond. She is the Catholic Schools NSW representative for the National Arts Committee for ACARA, a member of the cross-sectoral CaPA representative group, and chair of the inter-diocesan CaPA working group. She has delivered professional learning in Music Curriculum across many dioceses in NSW, and for a number of years has been an HSC Music 1 Practical Marker for NESA.

Eva has taught Music and Drama in multiple schools in Sydney over her career, and has led dynamic CaPA faculties to grow and develop young performers to become valuable contributors to the professional performing arts industry through their work in film, on television, as working musicians and recording artists, and in the professional theatre.

Currently the Supervisor for Performing and Visual Arts Curriculum at Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS), Eva leads a dynamic team of Arts Education Officers, Artists-in-Residence, and Creatives. The Arts Team is responsible for supporting teachers and students in the Arts in our schools, providing curricular and co-curricular opportunities through Arts HQ, as well as the ViVA! Programme. At present, Eva leads the implementation of NESA Curriculum reform at a system level in all areas of the Creative Arts K-12.

Prior to this, Eva was the Project Manager for the Amadeus Music Education Programme, where all students at SCS from K – 8 have access to a specialist classroom Music teacher, with students from Years 3 – 8 playing an orchestral instrument. They are taught by professional music tutors and rehearse as part of an ensemble on a regular basis.

Eva holds a Masters in Educational Leadership (ACU), and a Bachelor of Music Bachelor of Education (UNSW). Creatively, Eva is a professional singer, and is an experienced Producer, Director and Musical Director. Eva has led a masterclass tour of New York and LA, including the production of a musical theatre performance at Disneyland. Her student vocal ensembles have won many awards including 1st place (2015, 2017) in Vocal Australia’s AusAca National A Cappella Championships.
